Support for status holders (and people awaiting for the status) consists of solving small
practical everyday issues, which can sometimes seem like an impossible obstacle for people
who have just arrived in a new country.
MISSION
The goal of this project is not just to help refugees with small practical matters by providing assistance from a more experienced person who speaks Dutch and English, but also to teach those seeking help how to solve such problems themselves in the future, thereby integrating
into Dutch society.
Languages of the program: Russian, English, Dutch
How is our project different from the services offered by the Buurtteam Amsterdam?
- Community oriented (more personal approach, community based)
- Sharing own experiences (with focus on LGBTQIA+ refugees)
BENEFITS
The issues we can help you address include
-
applying for huurtoeslag,
-
zorgtoeslag,
-
setting up electricity and internet contracts,
-
assistance with translating official letters,
-
writing CVs, and
-
job search.
This can be the first step where a more experienced person, who has lived in the Netherlands for many years and knows how things work in the country, can "lead someone by the hand” and help solve a problem (for example, finding contracts, translating letters, making phone calls to institutions, etc.) with the goal of sharing the experience and providing the the refugee with the necessary knoweldge to handle such issues independently in the future.
In preparation: Job search support
