☀️ The first-ever PridePicnic in history took place in Brussels, Belgium, last Saturday, May 21. The event was organized by LGBT World Beside.
🌳 The picnic was held at Parc du Cinquantenaire (French) or Jubelpark (Dutch), and it was not a random choice. The Cinquantenaire Park is one of the most beautiful and popular parks in the city. In 1880, King Leopold II decided to organize the World Exhibition in Brussels to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Belgium’s independence. He chose a former military polygon as the location for this purpose. According to the monarch’s plan, the new park with impressive structures was meant to showcase the image of a developed and prosperous Belgium to the world. One of the most notable structures in this public space is the 50-meter Triumphal Arch, which serves as the entrance to the park. It is adorned with a quadriga symbolizing the province of Brabant, while statues representing other Belgian provinces can be found at the foot of the arch.
🏖️ Around 10 people gathered at the picnic. The organizers set up a wonderful table with snacks, and there was even leftover food. All the guests interacted in a friendly manner, took photos as mementos, and played badminton. Such leisure activities undoubtedly contribute to strengthening the sense of community.
🌈 PridePicnic is a vibrant summer event that celebrates freedom, diversity, unity, and love. It provides a safe and welcoming space for people of any sexual orientation and gender identity to come together, socialize, and enjoy nature. The participants of the recent picnic agreed to make PridePicnic a kind annual tradition, both in Belgium and to organize it on a much larger scale next year, rivaling the one in Amsterdam.
🎉 Speaking of LGBTQ+ community events, it is impossible not to mention Pride, which took place the day before the picnic. Columns of proud and free people, numbering thousands and painted in the colors of the rainbow, marched through Brussels with joy and vibrancy. Representatives of LGBT World Beside also took part in this celebration. They even had the opportunity to meet activists from different countries, including Ukraine and Hungary. We hope that interacting with like-minded individuals will lead to high achievements in our future endeavors, and the LGBT World Beside network will receive a significant boost for development so that we can help as many people as possible throughout Europe.

☀️ В бельгийском Брюсселе в минувшую субботу, 21 мая, состоялся первый в истории PridePicnic. Организатором мероприятия выступила LGBT World Beside.
🌳 Местом проведения Пикника был выбран Parc du Cinquantenaire (фр.) или Jubelpark (нид.). И неслучайно. Парк Пятидесятилетия — один из самых красивых и популярных парков в городе. В 1880 году к 50-летию независимости Бельгии король Леопольд II решил организовать в Брюсселе Всемирную выставку. Для этой цели он выбрал бывший военный полигон. По замыслу монарха, новый парк с импозантными сооружениями должен был продемонстрировать миру образ развитой и зажиточной Бельгии. Одно из самых заметных сооружений этого общественного пространства — 50-метровая Триумфальная арка, служащая входом в парк. Её украшает квадрига, символизирующая провинцию Брабант. Другие бельгийские провинции отражены в виде статуй у подножия арки.
🏖️ На Пикнике собралось около 10 человек. Организаторы накрыли замечательный стол с закусками, большое количество еды даже осталось. Все гости дружелюбно общались, фотографировались на память, играли в бадминтон. Такое времяпрепровождение, безусловно, способствует укреплению чувства общности.
🌈 PridePicnic – это яркое летнее мероприятие, которое празднует свободу, разнообразие, единство и любовь. Он предоставляет безопасное и гостеприимное пространство для людей любой сексуальной ориентации и гендерной идентичности, чтобы собраться вместе, пообщаться и насладиться отдыхом на природе. Участники прошедшего Пикника договорились сделать PridePicnic доброй ежегодной традицией теперь и в Бельгии и в следующем году провести его гораздо более масштабно, не хуже, чем в Амстердаме.
🎉 Говоря о меропритяих для ЛГБТК+ комьюнити, невозможно не упомянуть и Pride, который прошел днем ранее Пикника. Колонны гордых и свободных людей, насчитывающие тысячи человек и окрашенные в цвета радуги, ярко и весело прошли по Брюсселю. Представители LGBT World Beside также приняли непосредственное участие в этом празднике. И даже успели познакомиться с некоторыми активистами из разных стран, в том числе из Украины и Венгрии. Надеемся, что взаимодействие с единомышленниками позволит достигать в дальнейшем высоких результатов в нашей деятельности, а филиальная сеть LGBT World Beside получит наибольший импульс к развитию, чтобы мы могли помогать как можно большему числу людей по всей Европе.
